Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of experience does your staff have?

Our workforce currently consists of 26 employees—14 who are certified public accountants and two who are enrolled agents. Our administrative staff of four has a combined total of over 70 years here at MJW alone. Several members of our staff were previously employed in other public accounting firms, and some were in private practice before joining MJW's team.

What size clients do you serve?

We have provided services to clients of all sizes from initial start-up companies with one owner/employee to companies with over $60,000,000 in revenue and over one thousand employees.

Do you specialize in a particular type of accounting service?

No, but we do emphasize prompt response and innovative solutions to a wide range of business problems, and we research and present in clear language all available options for our clients. MJW offers a wide range of services, including financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations, tax planning and advocacy, estate and trust services, QuickBooks and Peachtree software consulting, closely held business advisory services and business valuations. We serve a variety of individuals, not-for-profit organizations, and corporations and partnerships from various industries, and we make serving each client our highest priority.

Can you help me with my QuickBooks or Peachtree accounting software?

Yes. MJW provides support for QuickBooks and Peachtree software packages. With Peachtree experts and QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisors on staff, we can provide troubleshooting as well as training sessions to help you use these programs more efficiently and maximize all the benefits they can provide.

Do you provide other small business services, such as payroll and advising?

Yes. MJW can prepare payroll, provide payroll reporting, or assist in selecting a payroll service. At MJW, we understand that each client is unique. We provide services to each client's individual needs.

Do you outsource your tax preparation services?

No. MJW's philosophy is to offer our clients individualized, comprehensive tax preparation services. To accomplish this, we feel that our clients are better served by in-house tax preparation.

What can I do to ensure that my tax return will be ready on time? When do I need to get my information to you?

Turnaround time, between our receipt of all your tax information to delivery of your completed tax returns, lengthens as the tax season goes on. Therefore, the earlier we receive your tax information, the better. But we must receive your tax information no later than March 15 to ensure that we can complete your return by the original filing deadline of April 15. You should complete the organizer that we provide, answer all questions listed, and provide us with complete and accurate information in an organized fashion.

If we did not prepare your return for the previous tax year, we can provide you with a blank organizer to assist you as you collect your tax information.
